'Hayday of the Ski Club at Mount Revelstoke'

1963

'A Vision for Revelstoke': Revelstoke visionaries Mair and Don Sinclair established the Mount Mackenzie Ski area in 1963.

1968

'The Move to Mount Mackenzie': Mount Mackenzie officially opens and becomes the centre for mountain sports in the Revelstoke area.

1972

'The Birth of Selkirk Tangiers Heli Skiing': Peter Schleunegger was the first to explore the Monashee Selkirk region and knew instantly that it was the future of heli-skiing in Canada.

1990

'Expanding the Vision': In 1990 the city of Revelstoke became closely intertwined with the future of the ski hill. Under the cities direction the ski hill continued to expand trails and terrain.

1999

'A home for heli-skiers': The Hillcrest Hotel became the official home for Selkirk Tangiers Heli-Skiing.

2005

'The Start of Something Big': The purchase of Powder Springs ski area in 2005 by Revelstoke Mountain Resort - and the subsequent acquisition of Cat Powder Skiing in 2006 - marked the start of a new era by expanding the accessible terrain.

2007

'Selkirk Tangiers Helicopter Skiing Acquired': On January 16, 2007, RMR announced its purchase of local heli-ski operations Selkirk Tangiers Helicopter Skiing Ltd. With this addition, the resort controls over 2,000 square km of heli-ski terrain with access from the resort base.

'Blazing Trails': The summer of 2007 saw the addition of dozens of freshly cut runs to the slopes of Mount Mackenzie.

'Revelstoke Mountain Resort Opens': The resort's high-speed quad and gondola began turning on December 22, 2007. A new era for RMR is born and was to be the biggest North American ski resort debut in over twenty years.

2008

During the summer of 2008, the mountain was buzzing with the installation of the new Anticipation Gondola extension adding 885 vertical feet (270m) to connect the village properties to the Revelation Gondola.

'North Bowl': During the summer of 2007, further trail cutting in the "North Bowl" area extended the skiable area and added a number of expert runs and glades. The Ripper Chair, a second four-person chairlift was installed serving the North Bowl area.

When the lifts started turning, skiers and boarders enjoyed a 5,620 vertical descent (1,713 meters) the longest in the Western Hemisphere, with access to newly cut and gladed mountain terrain for all levels of skiers and boarders, increasing the new skiable terrain by an additional 1,412 acres (656 hectares).

2009

'Expanding the Village': Nelsen Lodge building 1 is complete and building 3 is scheduled to be completed this ski season. Building 2 is under construction with a scheduled completion date for the 2010/2011 ski season. The first single family home in Mackenzie landing is complete with four more luxury single-family homes under construction. The completion of Nelsen Lodge now offers guests ski-in/ski-out luxury accommodations.

'On Hill Dining': Expanding the Revelstoke experience the Rockford.Wok.Bar.Grill is now open in Nelsen Lodge and is the first of many restaurants which will complete the Village Master Plan.

'The Revelstoke Outdoors Centre': ROC is truly the most unique activities centre that any resort can claim to have. ROC is the four season central booking location for Snow School, Cat Skiing, Heli Skiing, Backcountry Touring, Mountain Awareness Courses and various other activities including paragliding, dog sledding, hiking and more.
